Review
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas is Lee Greenwood's shot at making his own Christmas album. Where most Christmas albums tend to fail due to the artist's failure to capitalize on their own strengths, Greenwood fails because he simply tries to hard to capitalize on his trademark sound. He has to be given credit for his efforts: he throws himself head first into each song, pumping it full of his trademark bluster and emotion. Greenwood has a strong, wonderful voice that is perfectly suited for this type of music. It just so happens that he takes it just a little too far; the songs are performed far too passionately and overblown to really take seriously. Still, the album is by no means terrible, it just tends to overshoot its goals a little too often to be taken seriously. Fans of adult contemporary may enjoy this, but the average listener will probably be turned off by the renditions. ~ Bradley Torreano, All Music Guide
